An extremely rare painted figurine of a Moor playing the flute.
A set of four porcelain Moor Musicians were first made at Rosenthal in the 1940s, Flute – Cymbals – Concertina – Lute, designed by Hugo Meisel.
This flute player was made at the Rosenthal/Selb-Plößberg factory circa mid-20th century. It is a bisque porcelain figure, colourfully decorated with a design by Otto Koch and hand painted by E. Zapf.
Manufacturer’s mark on base, embossed sign for H. Meisel, signatures for Otto Koch and F Zapf.
Stands at 19 cm high x 10 cm x 5.5 cm
Condition : Excellent, no damages to the porcelain, checked with UV light.
