Jens Dahl-Jensen (Peter) Jensen, born 1874 Jutland –  1960 Copenhagen

A Danish ceramicist, son of a cabinet maker, he was a model master of the porcelain company Bing and Grondahl in Copenhagen and from 1917 to 1925 he was the artistic director of the porcelain factory Norden, also Copenhagen.

Between 1901 and 1925 Dahl-Jensen modelled numerous small sculptures of beasts of prey in bronze that were exhibited in Sweden, Germany and the USA but he became increasingly famous for his work in porcelain, especially animal figurines for Bing & Grøndahl. In 1925 he started his own business the Dahl-Jensen Porcelainfabrik in Copenhagen. In addition to animal figures, he modelled some unusual oriental figurines with deep and strong lower glazes. His wife Martha Dahl-Jensen worked in the family and his son Georg Dahl-Jensen continued the production until 1981, the company closed after the sale of the stock in 1984.
