Bjorn Wiinblad 1918-2006
Born in Copenhagen in 1918. Studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1943. In 1946, he partnered with the Danish Nimor Kiln to produce works. In 1952, he established his atelier. In 1956, he developed a variety of fine art, ceramics, silverware, glassware, etc. at the German company Rosenthal. In 1970, he established his home and atelier, the Blue House, in Copenhagen. In 1974, he was awarded the Master Craftsman Award, an honorary honor in Denmark. In 1984, he won numerous awards, including the Man of the Year Award in New York. In 1997, he held a Wiinblad exhibition at Shinjuku Takashimaya and Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi. It is said that Bjorn’s fascination with the Arabian Nights was a major catalyst for the creation of many of his works. His works are owned by many museums, including the Albert Museum in London and the MoMA in New York.
