Nymphenburg’s Chinoiseries collection, another Franz Anton Bustelli masterwork, dates back to 1757, when the Far East was a source of European fascination. Originally meant to be displayed in groups encircling a central object, the wise, inquisitive and worshipful stories of these figurines are told through subtleties such as facial expression, detailed garments and nuances of posture.
