Girl with Plait

£395.00

A porcelain figure of a Girl with Plait, Elsa, modelled by her father the German Sculpture Arthur Storch (1870 – 1947).

Measures 27 cm high x 13 cm deep.

Signed artist initials on base AS.

Blue factory mark for  Volkstedt Schwarzburger Werkstätten – impressed running fox.

Condition : on very close inspection there is a tiny knock to the top of the head. Otherwise EXCELLENT.

At the beginning of the 1920s Arthur Storch worked freelance for several Porcelain factories. His work was exhibited at many art fairs and he had undertaken numerous public commissions. By 1923 he had created porcelain of surprising liveliness and size, comparable only to the objects created by Joachim Kändler 200 years earlier in the Meissen factory. The works are considered a special achievement of technical craftsmanship for the 20th century and are still admired with awe in the 21st century.
