Large pug bitch with a suckling puppy on a white base, a modern production from an original Kaendler design, introduced by Meissen in the late twentieth century.

Meissen has famously produced porcelain pug and puppy figures since the 18th century, notably modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler around 1740–1745. Classical sets typically feature an adult pug bitch (often with naturalistic grey, fawn, or white coats and a collar with bells) seated alongside a small puppy on a rocaille or flower-encrusted base.

The factory mark of the blue crossed swords is on the underside, no strikes (1st quality). Incised model number 78585 – 169 H (date released  @ 1988).

Height: 15.5 cm – Base: 8 cm x 11 cm
