RARE Hummingbirds Ashtray

An extremely rare ashtray, 1920s post war decadence from a series of ordinary Lustre ware designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones at Wedgwood.
The rectangular tray has a fixed lidded malfrey pot in the centre. It is decorated in a blue lustre with stainings and dark blue mottling and has gilded, multi-coloured lustre flying Hummingbirds in four corners and around the bowl. Inside the pot and lid is an orange lustre with crimson mottling and a gilded flying Hummingbird. Gilded geese fly around the rim of the tray, lid and bowl.
Printed Wedgwood with Portland Vase mark to base.
