Fish Graal

£795.00

A substantial piece of art glass from Orrefors Sweden – Crystal FISHGRAAL vase, signed Edward Hald.

The Fish Graal was designed by Edward Hald in 1945 and has continued to be produced in limited quantities. The design of fish swimming in seaweed is almost always created in a green colour using the Graal technique using thick-walled, clear crystal. Although the theme is the same, no two pieces are identical. The effect of this technique creates an illusion of a larger under water scene enlarging the fish and water plants at different depths. The Graal technique became a huge commercial success for the Orrefors company and was a large factor in advancing the Swedish Art Glass movement.

The base is properly marked with etched signature “Orrefors, Graal – 118L, Edward Hald”.

Dated 1956.
