Daventry Marston Bowl


Wedgwood – Daventry was the name given to a design of Chinese derivation. Scenes of Chinese-style landscapes alternate with stylised clusters of flowers, each panel framed by a narrow dividing line of colour.

The unusual Marston shaped bowl has ruby panels on the outside and inside a yellow lustre overprinted with a crimson Thorn diaper; the centre a blue lustre with rare centre motif of a figure in a landscape of trees.

Gilt printed Wedgwood with Portland Vase mark to base and Z5440, the last pattern number in the series. Listed in Una des Fontaines catalogue

Size: 5 cm high x 10 cm diameter.

Condition : Excellent, no damage to ceramic, lustre or gilding.
